Boom .. ordered! Christ that took a lot of faffing about over the last couple of months. Thanks for all the help and advice over a very long thread.
In the end, despite £80ish saving for B650 version, I splurged on the TUF GAMING X670E (flimsily on better audio, better looks, better rear USB...
Are you sure? I could swear all the reviews say it only comes with the front 3 fans included ..?

One more check .. cooling wise, this has 3 fan intake, 3 fan AIO out. I think that will look nice and balanced and, despite the glass front, seems like a fair bit of chill. The case is probably meant for using with side fans too, but in absense of that, is there a need for a rear exhaust fan...
Yeah, that was my preference, but neither PCS nor Cyberpower have the FE. FWIW, from speaking with PCS staff, the 4080S they're currently stocking is a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Trinity. Very small FF compared to others in the 4080 family .. seems to perform well, but looks like it...
I could sit on my hands for a few more weeks if it was worth it to save maybe £100 and get the FE (or even if no saving!). I've been sitting on them for rather a long time though! 🤔
Thanks - I'd seen those three and they're a good summary of where this generation is at sadly. This screenshot says it all:
I like games from both ends of that spectrum. I guess in 1-2 years time it's possible RTX will pick up a lot and be worthwhile having an "aging" card that at least can...
Ahh .. interesting. Do you know what they have been stocking on PCS? On Cyberpower, the cheapest card is just labelled "MSI GeForce RTX™ 4080 SUPER 16GB" ... safe to assume Ventus?
Such a headache reducing variables across builds this weekend! At least I'm just down to PC Specialist vs. Cyberpower in terms of purchase point.
7900XTX is obviously the cheapest option, but £22 extra can get me a 4080S FE with PCS. Or an extra £46 can upgrade the 7900XTX to Asus' TUF...
Having read the main reviews, I've probably strayed to .. less known content authors with side by sides rather than charts. To be fair, RT seems just over the bridge with 4080/90. Next generation will feel mature (it better!). If you want RT, Nvidia is the only real option, I get that. The...
So now the dust has settled on the 4080 Super, it's £23 difference between it and the 7900XTX on the spec below. I see as many YT clips saying you're insane to go with the 4080S as RT is too young as I do saying you'd be crazy NOT to get the 4080S since you get RT and enough games over 60fps to...
Interestingly the OC 7900XTX is only about £40 more (and the base card is ~£1100 IIRC .. quite dear). Prob may as well spec that for an extra couple of FPS and better cooling? I think this would be near my final spec to therefore compare against a 4080 Super when they come out:

There are many complex reasons for why things are where they are for set periods of time, cloud synch, etc. It's also about an 11 year old system with at least one drive I don't trust too much anymore. Vids & Pics at year end size peak too. It is a system that makes sense for me ;P Zero...
Just back to system drives, whether 0.5 or 1TB .. any particular recommendations for speed and reliability?
Separately, what speed actually matters for loading games off secondary 2TB drives?
