I had similar questions when I specced my machine a few months ago. If you look on youtube there are some comparison videos where you can see some good examples of the pros/cons of each. Apologies but I dont have an exact link right now.

I'm having an issue with my backlight keys too. If I use control center to turn them on they are fine until i restart of power off. On next load they'll be off again. Do you have a physical key to turn them on on your machine? Mine's an Elimina Pro.
