Quick update I've not tried the thermal pad modification yet so no news on that although I did find this useful download link to the equivalent model on XMG's website ***link removed, other SIs drivers and software may be different to PCS and can cause major issues, always seek driver updates...

CPU's and GPU's both have thermal limits up in the 90s and back off the power to maintain and keep under those limits. It's not attractive for us to see the hardware right up there when the device is used for it's intended purpose and almost certainly will be throttling, at least on the CPU side...
