Thanks for the replies. It's not listed in the startup tab in task manager, but the icon is in the little arrow in the taskbar when I boot up (from cold not just hibernate etc). So it seems it is auto loaded per some setting somewhere. I guess deep PCS system thing

Thanks for the support and help all. I actually got a reply a few hours ago from the admin, who's found my laptop order and found the correct fans and raised a sales order on my account. Apparently the fans and heatsinks are all one unit in this chassis so have to order the combo. Cheers :)

ok thanks. I'll replace the cheap looking China fans and redo the paste, and dust out the fan areas and copper tubing too. Thanks for the advice. Any advice on decent aftermarket fans? Or are the basic ones ok? Not even sure what fan dimensions/speed etc I need.

I've cleaned as far as I can without removing the fans. And it wasn't too bad. I was waiting to just replace the fans rather than clean them tbh, just wondered if there's something else I should be doing as a matter of course, like just do the CPU thermal paste while I'm in there.
