I’ve made a final upgrade to a 7850 XT in anticipation of a 1440p monitor upgrade in the coming weeks. It hit the sweet spot of not too expensive an upgrade from the 3060, the same VRAM, and better benchmarking at 1440p.
Also gone with a 5000X case to fit it in, along with h150i cooling.
Any...
Thanks. +£275 would be a big financial hit if I’m not constantly gaming. So tough isn’t it deciding what the right thing to do is? Future proofing is a myth yet the temptation to get it now and get it right is crippling…
One final potential tweak before I leave it alone.
If I were to get a second hand (but ok) 1440p 27” monitor to replace my 1080p setup, would the 7800X3D and 3060 still do a decent enough job for me on at least high/very high game settings in 1440p?
I’m a casual gamer at best, but the games I...
Thanks both - I'm still in pre-production and can safely downgrade to the original ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (DDR5, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) and reclaim £80?
Hi all,
I have a PC in pre-production, with the following key components (I've shortened it for readability and relevance):
Case
CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB TEMPERED GLASS MID-TOWER ATX CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5)
Motherboard
ASUS®...
That’s really helpful, thanks! To be honest, seamless 1080p gaming is probably my reality and hopes for the next 12 months whilst I pay the rig off!
Can I ask why the two SSDs? I currently have a 2TB and am nowhere near filling it. Is there a tangible advantage rather than a single drive?
Latest version within my new budget. As suggested, I've gone up to AM5, and also reduced RAM from 64 to 32GB, and gone with faster DDR5:
Case
FRACTAL FOCUS 2 ARGB GAMING CASE (BLACK)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5)
Motherboard
GIGABYTE...
PS - more than happy to slightly reduce my spec (if you think I'm overshooting), and leave some budget for a new monitor (keeping the ASUS as a secondary monitor).
Monitors are my major weak point that I've never bothered upgrading given my basic video editing and occasional gaming habits, but I'm seeing that as something non-urgent that I can upgrade in the future.
Please don't laugh, but I'm currently working off a dual monitor setup of:
ASUS VE278H...
Apologies for starting a second new thread in as many days. My budget has increased significantly, so didn't want to muddy the waters on the old thread.
Basically, I'm after a good 'all-rounder' of a PC that can deal with Premiere Pro video editing, home office use, but also play games at a...
HI all,
A bit of a random combination of computer usage in the title there, but I genuinely use my PC for video editing and specific casual gaming, and the game I'll be playing the most in the coming year is Cities Skylines 2. To give you an idea of the recommended spec for Adobe Premiere Pro...
