I've successfully installed Ubuntu (which can be installed with secure boot enabled because it's signed), but the Nvidia graphics card drivers are unsigned and thus I have to use generic drivers instead of the proper Nvidia ones.
I think all this boils down to just needing to know how to...
Thanks. I’ve found the secure boot settings screen but it doesn’t appear to let me disable it - you can see in the photo that the first two options are greyed out and not changeable. I’m assuming I should be able to change User to Off or something?
I've just taken delivery of my new PC.
I have two SSD drives, one contains the pre-installed Windows 10 Home and the other is empty.
I have a flash drive with the linux PopOS installer on and want to install PopOS on the other SSD drive. I want to be able to choose which OS I boot in.
I've...
I had the email this afternoon, and took the offer of switching to a 3060 as they have it in stock. The 3060 non-Ti should be fine for my needs and it means I get the PC sooner. It was £127 cheaper too!
Thanks for your thoughts Scott, I will take your suggestion and downgrade from the 3080 to the 3060ti.
Whilst I could save a couple of hundred pounds on cheaper drives, I think I'll stick with the 980s because the extra performance will be useful when I'm coding.
With the 5800X CPU and the...
Also, regarding software, I would happily remove the MS Office trial if I could see that option, but it seems to be forced upon me!
If I remove BullGuard, what antivirus would you recommend instead?
Thanks to both of you for such quick feedback!
The one friend is a big flight sim geek, he suggested the 3080 over the 3060 not so much because I'd benefit from it now, but for future proofing. In hindsight I think it was shortsighted to bump down the CPU for the sake of a few hundred quid, so...
Following a couple of recommendations from friends IRL, I've changed the spec slightly. I've upgraded the GPU and downgraded the CPU.
I've also chosen the two monitors I plan to buy:
LG 49WL95C
iiyama ProLite T2252MSC-B1 21.5" 1920 x 1080pixels Multi-touch Black touch screen monitor
Updated...
I forgot to mention, I do not have any PC monitors so will be looking to buy some. This will obviously be in addition to the 2k budget for the PC.
1080p or 1440p would be sufficient, and initially I'd have 2 monitors. I may decide to add a third at a later date.
Hi gang.
I'm trying to spec up a build for a PC with two purposes:
* Flight simulation - Windows - I mainly run X-Plane 11 but would also like to do the occasional FS2020 flight. I use X-Plane mainly as an instrument trainer so I don't need top end graphics, but I would like good graphics...
