PCSPECIALIST Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement - thoughts and advice?

Bad news. Looks like Microsoft made a mistake earlier with guidance: https://www.crn.com/news/applications-os/microsoft-now-says-windows-11-tpm-requirement-is-for-version-2-0 "In the updated documentation, Microsoft has removed the reference to a “hard floor” for Windows 11 that would’ve...

PCSPECIALIST Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement - thoughts and advice?

By the way, for my Asus board, to enable firmware TPM I just had to search for 'TPM' in my BIOS and find it. Should be helpful for anyone else running a recentr ASUS bios. TechRader has an article covering S mode here (there's also a Microsoft one but its a bit covered in marketting speak).

PCSPECIALIST Gaming Laptop check - £1600 budget

According to this, it is 1.2 TPM that is the minimum, not 2.0. Appears microsoft screwed up what their hard and soft support was. If you don't meet the "soft" requirements you'll be recommended not to upgrade - but what does that mean, in the end?

PCSPECIALIST Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement - thoughts and advice?

Yeah, it appears that laptops and OEM desktops bought after a certain date (I've heard anything after 2016?) should be fine. That reminds me to check if my laptop (which I also got from PC-Specialist in late 2018) would be compatible. I think it's mainly us desktop folks that, at the very...

PCSPECIALIST Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement - thoughts and advice?

With the reveal of the specifications and requirements for Windows 11 today, I decided to use the Health Checker tool to be able to test if my machine can upgrade to Windows 11, especially after hearing that Windows 11 would require TPM 2.0 to be enabled to be used. To my surprise my PC is...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

I will disable all and try everything, see if things are more stable. I'm not sure I played mCC and alt-tabbed enough today to potentially trigger the issue. Why does overclocking cause issues with Ryzen and this system? I would have thought at-least overclocking my RAM (since I did get a...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

Well. The main issue is sorted. But now I am facing some minor stutters in Xbox pass games, but nowhere else. That's fine, I think. I suspect that Jedi: Fallen Order can be kinda like that with what it has to load. What is not fine is that when alt-tabbing Halo MCC, possibly with or without a...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

Tested more, especially with Doom Eternal, and I can say with a certain amount of confidence that the stutters and issues are gone. Apex Legends ran very well and any issues I encountered were not in any of the AMD GPU metrics I was looking at, and appeared to be caused by server instability...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

It appears that is impossible, I'm going to have to redownload Doom Eternal. I wouldn't mind as I have good internet speed, but I have a monthly 1TB cap and apparently a soft 50 GB daily cap. Ah well. Things seem okay so far, I haven't noticed the same issues. I think thehre has been some FPS...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

I have reinstalled. I have not tested yet. I was trying to get Doom Eternal from Game Pass, which I transferred to my D: drive before doing the clean install, up and running again, but Windows seems to believe it's from another drive. Am I snookered on testing that one or is there a way to get...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

Before I do the reinstallation, I want clarification on how to do this: `Follow option one from here but it misses out that the very first part of windows installation is to delete all existing partitions on the c drive and install to the blank space` I've been trying to do Disk Management to...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

I have a SteelSeries Rival 600. I did discover that could happen and set my polling rate down very low, but this made no difference. The issue I'm facing does not occur typically when moving the mouse around, and certainly not that consistency or often. They tend to be random, along with sound...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

It was, but it made no difference sadly. I will try to do a clean install soon, probably tomorrow after my work (I should be fine with my workaround until then, I assume). Am I fine to transfer everything (like games etc.) to my HDD, delete the SSD partition and then start the clean install...

PCSPECIALIST Microstutters to bigger stutters on Ryzen 7 5800X and 6800 system

I do (that 'DVI' cable was the DP cable... easy to get mixed up, I also ordered a VGA to DVI (or DP?) cable so I could support my 2013 old Dell monitor). I will try that, without the minimum clock I set.

HDMI for my main monitor, DVI for my second, since the 6800 has one HDMI cable. While I am here: Sorry, hope I am not being annoying (the information both of you have given means a lot), but was your sentance cut off here?
