I've noticed the optimus IX has a 144hz screen but no gsync? Do you think the 1060 is enough to keep that monitor high enough fps wise?

Is there much difference between an i5 8600 and an i7 8700? If paired with a 1070/1080? Was planning a laptop but after issues with heat on the defiance V, I'm looking at a smallish pc case I can use instead.
