Now when it boots up, it makes 1 long and then 3 short beeps from the motherboard. And then the PC would appear to be working normally. Any idea what might be causing this?

Folks I found the solution. I removed the lithium battery from the motherboard (I had to also remove the GPU to expose that) and waited for about 15 seconds and then put it back on. It worked. I think the issue is the motherboard needs its static electricity to be discharged. Not sure whether...
