When I ordered my PC, I was advised to get a rear fan for the case as the 500D SE doesn't have one. I've managed to get my hands on a fan which will be arriving today, but my PC has unfortunately had to be RMA'd.
So I've gone from having a case with no fan, to having a fan but no case!
Now there's a PC-sized gap on my desk - hopefully not for too long depending on my RMA (3 weeks looks likely going by the RMA lead times) - I'm going to have to resist the urge to hunt down a PS5 to fill the gap.
Any advice on how to resist that urge?!
While I have an enthusiast level of interest in computers, I don't have the knowledge to back it up. I think I'm going to have to hand in my enthusiast card at this rate.
I've had intermittent crashing issues with a RTX 3080 which was RMA'd after seeking advice on here. The replacement card...
Over the last couple of days, I've had the occasional crash where the PC freezes entirely for a few seconds and then reboots itself - no BSOD or anything like that. It only seems to happen when I'm using my mouse for extended periods, browsing news, forums, etc. I've had the mouse years and it...
Not sure if there are any fans of pro wrestling on here (not entirely convinced pro wrestling is even a sport, so may not belong in the sport forum), but here we are. Having grown up watching WWF/WWE but not enjoying what their product has become over the last couple of years, I started watching...
Have been trying a few different games today and seem to be getting quite a few crashes in games running Unreal Engine (4 in particular) with an error "D3D device being lost". The error seems to happen with outdated drivers, which I don't have as I've used DDU to uninstall what came with the PC...
I'm amazed at just how quiet this thing is. Having needed to use a cooling mat for my previous laptop and so used to the mat's fan going constantly, this is just silent. I'm aware the fans don't typically run while there's no load, but this just feels eerily quiet. Still setting up all the apps...
I've been amazed at how RTX 3080s seem to be very rare (although they are starting to appear more often in the last couple of weeks - nearly 2 months on from release!), yet some Youtubers seem to have a lot of them. Watched this video last night which shed a little light on the issue:
This...
This is good to know. As I'm looking to switch from the 3080 I've already ordered to a 6800XT in a few weeks, part of me has been tempted to remove the 3080 to speed up delivery and then install the 6800XT myself as an "upgrade" once it's available. If it's looking as though PCS will remain open...
Me and my laptop don't get along very well, and often argue. I created an unbalanced spec by not visiting the PCS forum when I ordered( ), and I've not really looked after it properly since (:oops: ). I am going to be better when I get a desktop, but I feel like I need to get my...
As an Everton fan (somebody has to be!), it feels weird to say that we're really top of the league. The season's a marathon, not a sprint and all that, so I know it won't last. Still, it's nice while it does!
My brother's starting uni in a few weeks and is looking at getting a laptop. I talked my parents out of high street pre-builds, so they asked me to find one for around £400. The Ultranote is a little above that, but the specs seem reasonable enough to me for the price, but I have warned my...
I'm liking the looks of those specs. My current system sits between the minimum and recommended. The system I'm hoping to have by time the game comes out is going to be nicely beyond them!
I've been playing around with a few system setups, and now I've got a monitor, I figured I'd start this thread to get feedback on my thoughts. I've had laptops for a while, and this is my first desktop in about 15 years, and the first desktop with the main aim of gaming.
In terms of games, I...
I've been hovering around on here for quite a while. As I'm looking to buy a gaming PC in the next couple of months (wanting to see how the new Nvidia cards and AMD CPUs perform first), I figured I should probably stop lurking and maybe start posting.
