That absolutely makes sense. The 7800X3D could well be a complete game changer. Been planning a new rig for over a year now, saving and holding out for when I have the spare cash! But you're right, it's not too much longer to wait, and it's definitely worth doing so.
Thanks all :)
Is that because of AM5 being relatively new, and therefore having many more options for a CPU upgrade later down the line? In which case, yes that's true, but from what I've seen, the 13600K seems to slightly outperform the 7700X at this price point, whilst being slightly cheaper. CPUs remain...
Yes, I agree.
I'm already finding that playing Hunt: Showdown at 1440p on Medium, my CPU is frequently maxing out at 100% (again, another poorly optimised game) and I struggle to reach 50fps at that resolution.
Thanks for that - great point about the cooler / case. There's a £45 difference between the 4000D and 5000D so keen to try and keep to the 4000D if I get the smaller cooler you recommend. I agree roof mounted is much more preferable.
I hear you about the 4070 Ti, but I think games like...
Time for a new rig to replace my current (ancient, but bulletproof!) PCS 9 year old rig - an i7 4770, GTX 1060, 16GB RAM which is holding up remarkably well for its age!
Budget (excluding GPU): ~£1,200 (absolute maximum £1,300)
Use: Gaming - Hunt: Showdown, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2...
Well it's been a month and still no crashes, so I think (touch wood) that the problem has been resolved. I'll post back here of course if it does happen to reoccur.
Thanks again Ubuysa
ahh, in that case you may not notice much difference then. I'm no expert, but I don't believe there'd be a significant difference in temperature reductions, based on the type of paste used. I'd be interested to know how you get on though :)
So got my cooling pad, and I wouldn't say the temperatures have been lowered drastically. However there has definitely been some improvement in overall temperatures - probably about 5-10C lower than without it, under load. The fans are pretty quiet and you don't notice them over the fans of the...
Placement of fans really. Have two fans on the underside that I assume are blowing air out of the chassis, whereas I guess the cooling pads blow air towards the chassis - don't want them fighting each other really. Looking at pictures, this doesn't look as though it'd be an issue though (as the...
Would this cooling pad suit my Nova series laptop too (specs below)? Anyone got a 15"6 Nova series laptop and a cooling pad they would recommend, if not?
My laptop gets quite hot under load (85C+) so I'm concerned about its longevity at those temperatures. Battlefield 1 seems to make computers...
That's great! So far, so good for me too, but need a while longer testing yet!
I second that too - Ubuysa you're a real star, thanks so much for your help :)
Thanks Ubuysa. My initial thought months ago when this started happening, was that it was something to do with Clevo Control Center.
Indeed HKKbdFltr and kbdclass were both under that registry key as you described, so I've removed the HKKbdFltr entry and restarted the machine. The FN + F(X)...
Unfortunately the crash has just happened again. A quick look using bluescreenview shows the same culprid again (kbdclass.sys). I've noticed the crashing doesn't even show a BSOD, the screen just goes black.
The Upperfilters key reads HKKbdFltr kbdclass, and I've done the other bits that you've...
Ahh yeah, I forgot about DHCP. Yeah I'm pretty sure the hub I have (Plusnet One) doesn't support bridging.
Thanks for your help - lots to think about :)
Thanks. Second option looks good. I can probably hide my existing hub behind the furniture. Would simply turning the wi-fi off on the hub be sufficient, given the orbs plug directly into the hub (and effectively function as wif-fi access points)? The modem router provided by my ISP doesn't...
Hi,
I’ve been experiencing lag spikes between my PC and router for some time now (lag spikes are apparent when pinging the router). It’s not terrible, but it is annoying when playing online games.
After much investigating and testing, I’ve come to the conclusion that the problem lies with...
