PCSPECIALIST Octane Series: 17.3 Shutting Down When Power Disconnects

As I took the power out yesterday, at some point it shut down (before battery reaching 0%) Without the battery plugged in and running just on charger... it's working fine, the same as when the battery is in and just on charger. I think I'll be ordering myself a battery soon.

PCSPECIALIST Octane Series: 17.3 Shutting Down When Power Disconnects

Thanks all for the help, again. Today I woke up (laptop was shut). Took the second M.2 out (it's a 500gb Samsung). I want to mention that this M.2 works only at half of the speed, obvious now, now obvious when I bought it (still double speed than an SSD) After I took the second M.2 out...

PCSPECIALIST Octane Series: 17.3 Shutting Down When Power Disconnects

The problem continues. Yesterday as the laptop was working I disconnected the power and it kept working. I turned it off and on a few times, it kept working. Today I shut it down (battery 100%), left home, got somewhere, then I tried to start it, it started then it shut down, like before... I...

PCSPECIALIST Octane Series: 17.3 Shutting Down When Power Disconnects

I charged it, and it's working fine if I disconnect the power. The problem is when I start the laptop without the power being connected... it's like sometimes it draws more than the battery can provide. Battery wear is at 22% in hwmonitor, is that a lot ?

PCSPECIALIST Octane Series: 17.3 Shutting Down When Power Disconnects

Hello, In february 2019 I bought an Octane series, it's working perfectly fine, however, if I start it without power plugged in, it shuts down a few seconds after Windows loads on... I don't understand why... Did anybody else have this issue ? The battery is 100% when this happens. Could it...

    PCSPECIALIST OCTANE VI Temperature Issue

Yesterday I wrote a "guide" (it's more of a story). I think it would benefit you to take a look. Here's the link: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/octane-vi-17-3-guide-not-quite-for-better-cooling.67117/

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

Following our conversation I have decided to do a bit of research in regards to undervolting. Thanks for getting me curious !!! I found out about Throttle Stop (used 8.70.6). And after Tweaking with some settings I got some really nice results. For Throttle Stop I disabled BD PROCSHOT Set...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

I don't have time to take my laptop apart now as I'm working on it, but I managed (after a long search) to find a picture online. Here it is. It appears to me that there's a better segregation between the two and also you can see to the left of the RAM a radiator, that helps disipate some of...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

While I do agree with you, it's next to impossible for them not to share heat, due to physics I somehow belive (I don't know for a fact) that the Octane 3 is different than Octane 6, atleast when we look at the heat sink in particular. I couldn't find a picture online but I saw how Octane 3 heat...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

Thank you Ubuysa, the whole reason I made the "guide" or told my story was to help other people. I've read through it a bit and I made some pretty embarrassing mistakes. I will try to edit it a bit when I have some free time. That is quite a good advice to be honest, but I never had a business...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

Hello Scott, You are right, the ammount of difference is a combination of heatsink mating, quality of thermal paste, how well the thermal paste is applied and airflow. I have tried undervolting but I didn't get a noticeable difference to be honest, however if you go to deep with it you get...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

Sorry I couldn't post it all, so here's the continuation. I got inspired from the mod I was talking about, I chose to use wood as it compresses (less chance of damaging anything). I added nothing under the GPU side of heatsink as I never had problems with my GPU, it never went above 85°C...

PCSPECIALIST Octane VI 17.3 guide(not quite) for better cooling

Hello, I would like to begin with an apology, I'm not usualy writing reviews/tutorials or anything like that but recently I have managed to achieve some spectacular performance and I would like to share the "knowledge" as I wish I found a guide when I was going through this. This will be long...

PCSPECIALIST Unreliable fan behaviour in Octane VI; Control Centre suspect

Hello, This has happened to me but for the CPU. I did a fresh Windows install and everything was fine after. Apparently it was a windows update which caused CC to mallfunction. Edit: I do have the same setup as you, the only difference is I have the i7-9700K and 32gb of ram. I do recomment to...
