This is a fairly common type of thread on other forums, and seeing as there isn't an active equivalent here I thought I'd start one :D
Today, I signed up for my final university year's modules (pictured below). I also moved a bunch of junk from my parents' house to my uni place - none of the...
I just want to give my feedback on the early RMA process by PCSpecialist - to be honest, it's pretty great! Simple, quick, and easy.
Simple, because I just logged into the website, clicked the link to submit an RMA, typed in the issue and when I wanted it sent off, and submitted it. Took two...
So I've been messing around with the resolution on my (24" 1080p 60Hz) monitor. The thing can't go above 66Hz, but the resolution scales super well; This is the best I've managed to get it.
2960x1665 seems about the highest resolution I can have before standard-sized text becomes too small to...
None of the RAM modules' latencies are mentioned. Would be nice to have them so as to actually figure out how fast the RAM is.
Also, would it be possible to add 1x8GB 1600MHz as an option for the UltraNote 15.6" on request?
I have a feeling that my Genesis IV is incapable of recognising more than 8GB of RAM - that is, 2x4GB. This sounds strange since the specs page on the PCS site say it can take 2x8GB for a total 16GB, plus they sell it in the same configuration as me:
I have 2 modules of 1600MHz, 8GB capacity...
...and buying one of the Ultranote 15.6" when they get updated to Haswell. I'm thinking of selling it as-is for, say, £750, and getting a decent UltraNote with a 240GB SSD which will run me for slightly less. I'll wait for Haswell since I want to get Iris 5100 or 5200 integrated GPU, and because...
I pre-selected the new Haswell mobile quads on Intel's website for your easy comparison, and reference for the new slew of configuration help requests that will be coming soon.

My quick analysis - the 4800MQ looks best bang for buck, considering...
Note: This review isn't 100% finished yet, but it's just some images and a burn test I need to add. However I finished the majority of the review over a week ago I figured I'd post it :)
Genesis IV Full Review
Hi, I’m Kieran Mitchell, and this my review of the Genesis IV 15.6” laptop from PC...
There's a weird blank post showing up on the forum, which won't appear as read once I've gone onto it, and has no content beyond the title. I'm not responding from fear it will rupture the very fabric of the forum...
Also sent this to PCS tech support, figured I'd ask here as well to see if anyone has any idea:
I'm having issues with the RAM I'm trying to use for my Genesis IV. I have 2x8GB modules of 1600MHz DDR3, however I cannot get the laptop to recognise more than 4GB (this figure is shown both in...
1. On the configurator for the Inferno 11.6". How can a 120W adaptor be an upgrade from a 90W one? Either it works or it doesn't, unless the 90W is substandard (i.e. charges more slowly than the battery can take). I'm posting this in Website Feedback since I figure it's an error.
2. I was...
These two links go to the same URL, (making either of them redundant) and don't actually change anything on the page (making them both redundant).
The links aren't completely identical. the first goes to
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/
while the second goes to
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/...
So I just bought this spec :D I'll be putting 2x8GB 1600MHz into it as well as my 120GB OCZ Agility 3. Review, pics and benchmarks incoming as soon as it arrives in an estimated 10 days (though I expect it will be slightly longer, there seems to be a 'september rush' with all the student loans...
I'm looking at getting a Genesis IV, with the CPU choice as i7-3720qm, and the GPU as HD4000. However, with this I get two issues:
How come this is an issue?
I don't get this either. As far as I know, all the Ivy Bridge quads have HD4000, and the particular one I'm after definitely does, as...
My friend got an Optimus III recently, and it looked great except for the brand stickers. They were all neatly applied, but it still annoyed us that they were on there at all (some more than others - one is a handy reference to the GPU model, whereas another is just 'HDMI'. *sarcastic happy...
