As far as I can work out there is no point in going faster than I already have (2400MHz RAM),
as the CPU already limits the RAM to 2133MHz.
Could upgrade the CPU to a i7-6700k, this supports 2400MHz,
and I think that is the fastest CPU that the laptop will take (@£339 no).
I though I had a...
Good point, I will try that later. Currently I am running Linux and building Unreal, which will take a few hours to finish, the scanner is a Microsoft OS tool.
Unreal 5.0 development recommends 32GB. I thought I may as well fit 64GB because I can:-) Maybe I will try implementing a RAM disc, also Firefox will probably eat it on its own.
Hi,
I am looking for ram compatabilty advice. I have an Octane Clevo laptop model P775DM3-G purchased in 2016, with:
Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-6700k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache
16GB HyperX IMPACT 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 16GB)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 - 8.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX®...
I am trying to understand the price of RAM.
Why is £(2x16GB)/2 > £(1x16GB)
The upgrade prices are:
16GB hyperX IMPACT 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4 is £108.83 for (1x16), and £279 for (2x16)
The configurator also shows the same kind of thing.
(part HX424S141B/16)
Why the extra ~£63? Is this for a...
I just got my Son a 15" macBook pro retina etc, for £1600 or so. One week later the battery expands and recks it.
I google about and discover that this really is a thing that happens to macBooks quite a bit. I think this is ludicrous, they should at least have a thicker version with the battery...
I have been eyeing up the 17.3" Octane 2 for some time. The i7 6700k is the only thing marked as pre-order only. But I see a post saying that the gtx 980m may not be available until January. This has me confused (easily done ). I selected the gtx 980 & i7 6700 and build time is stated as...
I have been eyeing up the octanell 17". The spec states it can take 64GB with four slots. Does this mean 16GB sticks exist, or will soon?
'Only' 8 can be selected at the moment. Maybe I am being greedy, but give it a year and 64GB will be the minimum requirement for windoz.
I tried googlin but...
I am planning on purchasing an Octane 17 for gaming and number crunching. I am not sure which CPU to select; any advice gratefully recieved:
(i7 4790 3.6GHz, 8Mb, 84W) or (i7 4790s 3.2GHz, 8Mb, 65w)
84w sounds a lot, will this be a bit hot? Would it be better to go for 65w? Maybe these numbers...
