£1500 budget

If you sacrifice the rest of the build to fit high end parts you’ll have an imbalanced system with poor cooling which means higher instability and worse upgradeability.

The case is really important to the build, it’s not something you should go budget on.
Yeah makes sense, what’s the cooling like with the icue 5000x since it doesn’t have a mesh front? Or does that not make much difference?

Does anyone know what cooler this is btw?

Because they arent very good, and dont have the same lifespan youll get with a decent quality one.
Its a proper budget/cheap option.

You would be looking at the high end Corsair ones.
H115 RGB XT or Capillex.

They dont have the H100i Platinum atm, its been off the configurator for a month or two now, the PCS ones I wouldnt touch, Coolermaster 240 isnt RGB and the other Corsair coolers are old models now.

You are on a £1500 budget, in the middle of a huge price spike.... mate...sorry to be blunt, but forget RGB... not unless you want to cut the build itself back to something not worth having.

RGB type things are finishing touches, IF the budget is there, specifically chasing it on your budget is not going to end well....

Yeah I get you. Would you say the cooler master 240 is a better alternative then? And would I need to get the £9 thermal paste with this one?

Coolermaster lite 240 is an amazing cooler for the cash. Literally can't do better. I never recommend the paste on here due to my experience with it's application. Such a cooler will not have any issues with any old paste on it though. Down the line, when it comes time to repaste, simply splash our on some good stuff.

Ahh gotcha! Thoughts on the cooler master hyper 212? Is it better to go with a water cooler with the 5600x or are air coolers just as good?

What if I went for the cooler master hyper 212 and then 3 Corsair fans? It comes to £1567 with the 3060 ti

As previously mentioned, if you are going to buy fans (RGB ones too) on top, ditch the Lian Li 215 and just get a better case to start with.
Noctua are the leaders when it comes to aircooling but the Coolermaster 212 seems to be respectable.

The RTX 3060 Ti is about £50 more, and would give you raytracing and DLSS, if Raytracing isnt a rewuirement though the 6700XT is cheaper and more powerful, comparable to a 3070.

First thing I would do with this build would be save £100 up and put a 1TB M.2 SSD in as well as a games drive.

I wouldn't waste my money on aircooled to be honest. How much are you saving by going with it? Down the line if you were to upgrade the CPU the 240 lite would see you covered whereas the 212 may struggle. Better to overshoot just now, for the sake of a few quid, and reap the rewards down the line.

Overkilling the build with fans won't help anything, it needs to be balanced and well thought out.

The Lian Li Lancool 215 is the better case imo - it tops the vast majority of benchmark tests for thermals. If the fans are the issue and are wanting to be replaced (i like the fans in the case, to all be the same manufacturer), then i’d go for the 4/5000D airflow.

Not quite sure how Lian Li, manage to make such a great case, for so cheap. Corsair would charge £150+ for that.

100% agree with the other changes though

Yeah I just want the inside to look lit as well lol. What if I went for lian li case, coolermaster 240 lite and just 2 argb strips?

And I don’t really need that much storage cos I’m not even a heavy gamer, literally only have cod installed right now

Only reason I was trialing the 212 was so I could have 2 rgb fans at the top and one at the rear. Thats the vision I have for my pc kind of something like this. And going for the rgb water cooler would take me too far out of budget. Just trying to play around with my options

If you want to kit out a RGB build, at £1500 budget, you will need to wait for prices to come down, or take a build that is a lower level spec.

Ive tried saying this a variety of ways, but RGB is finishing touches, the stability and performance of the machine is priority or you will end up noticably handicapping the computer. If you want performance and RGB you would need a budget closer to 1.8K-2K

Your best option for a cooler in the price range you are looking is going to be something like the coolermaster 240, because of your budget, buy a decent quality case rather than trying to pimp a cheap one (budget and performance both considered that way).

The lian Li 215 does come in a mid tower which you can order seperately and send in if you want, but you would still have the issue of static fans (its got decent cooling as it is though) Lancool II Mesh RGB Midi-Tower Case but if you want rear fan RGB and RGB AIO etc your best routes are save up some more or buy a solid build now and add RGB elements over time, such as swapping fans about (which is fairly simple to do, especially if you buy a a decent controller that does fans too, not just lighting)

Sending in a case also means theres a lot more options... it might mean some added delay, it depends how quick you can get it to them (just order elsewhere and give PCS address for delivery, but keep PCS informed of details obviously)
Corsair 4000X RGB not quite as good as the 4000D case but that doesnt appear to have a RGB model. Its where it has glass panels rather than the mesh panels, but still a nice choice.

Corsair 220T RGB Airflow a little cheaper, and a good balance of budget/RGB/performance.... but back to static fans.
Theres options at how to do it. But spending £60 on a case, then another £50 on RGB fans is not the most cost efficient way of doing it, and the same or better results can be achieved by just being careful with the case choice.
