Hi there, i was wondering if anyone knows of a decent laptop which can output 120hz? Ive been eyeing up the optimus V but not sure it can run my 120hz monitor.

Cheers

I'm not sure if any of the PCS laptops will run above 60Hz to be honest.

I remember during the Vortex 3 we were told that the motherboard restricted the output to a maximum of 60Hz and this more than likely is still the case.

I would give PCS a phone to get a definite answer though

Sorry cant be more help than that.

Thats ok, thanks for the reply. I do think you are right but i'm always thinking maybe they have 1.4b hdmi or updated ports which do support it. This is the only reason i dont want to sell my pc and invest in a laptop :/. Ill give em a ring asap but if anyone else has anymore information that'd be great

That's odd - my Vortex 2 (admittedly older!) was quite happy driving a 120Hz monitor. Plug in an emitter and it worked perfectly well with 3D Vision too!

(The Vortex 2 had a DVI port, I didn't try 120Hz over HDMI).

Sweet, I did actually look over the Vortex IV LE which is currently available and it has a display port! Aslong as the port is version 1.2 or above I can use an adapter for DVI-D to drive my current 120hz monitor. This maybe the laptop for me. Thanks for the help both :)

as you have found out, hdmi is 60 hz only I think, but dvi will drive a monitor that high.
