12Gb 3080 now on configurator

I see the new 12Gb version of the 3080 is now on the configurator. €395 (incl VAT) increase over the 10Gb 3080 that's listed.

That's chunk of change for 2Gb....

€1,492.12 is the upgrade price for 12Gb, 10Gb not listed

I did the same. Those FE drops are still going on every couple of weeks. All the 3080 and lower cards go pretty much instantly but the 3080 Ti and 3090 cards hang around sometimes for a few hours. PartAlert is very useful.

As expected Nvidia using this product refresh to rebase their GPU prices higher. Squeeze those gamers until their pips squeak!

Is this on par with a 3080ti or between the old 3080 and that now... and how close is that performance difference?

Trust Nvidia to muddy the waters and further obfuscate the real issues. Nm that 12Gb is the least that the og 3080 should've had.

No surprise.

One of the top comments mentioned how Nvidia's current behaviour is more in line of a company going under, not a massively successful leader.
They've always been about cunning stunts though, but they're risking tarnishing themselves... nobody likes the meanest jokes being at their expense and some of the audience at least aren't laughing anymore.

Interesting to see that the 10GB 3080 is now the only card on pre-order. I expect the 12GB will be the only option shortly.

The pricing isn't so odd (horrific possibly but not odd).

The 3080 12GB is not a 3080 with an extra 2GB. It's a 3080 Ti with 8960 CUDA cores rather than 10240. So it's a downbinned 3080 Ti. Hence Nvidia want to a price closer to the 3080 Ti than original 3080.

This is how you rebase your prices to take more margin. As a shareholder I'm intensely relaxed about this ... as a consumer I'm fuming!
