13.3" Optimus V audio loudness (stock vs VIA drivers)

Not really a technical issue, more like a question.

When I first got the laptop I was amazed at how loud the speakers could go while still maintaining a good audio quality. However, when I install the VIA drivers they go considerably less loud. With stock Windows 8 drivers I had to turn them to about 70% in order to hear the series I'm watching. Now 100% isn't really loud enough in some situations (more ambient noise etc.)

So, the best for me would be just NOT to install the VIA drivers and go with the stock Windows 8 drivers. What would be the downsides of this? Why use the vendor audio drivers over stock?

You will probably find the new drives give you more control over the way the speakers sound. Probably has a load of pre-set programs to make rock, pop, classical etc sound better. Possibly this is the reason the sound is quieter, have you had a look around the software to see if you can see anything that might make the sound louder? Push a few buttons and see if you can make it better.

Pushed lots of buttons but didn't get a more powerful sound. And I generally don't like EQ's so I never activate those anyway.
