I got my lovely new gaming machine yesterday, cant fault it on speed and design this thing is amazing, however there is just one small problem.
In windows 7 the battery life is only shown in percentage there is no 'time left' like you would normally find on a laptop. Is this normal? and if not how can i fix it?

Thanks very much
Zac

Not seen this before - when you have over the battery icon in the bottom right corner it will most likely show both. Try again when the battery is a little lower (in terms of power remaining) and ensure the power lead is not connected when you try this.

Nope the icon in the bottom corner only shows the percent. I have sent the day in Uni with the laptop and it has been discharged down to around 30% and still it does not show time remaining. Could it be a dud battery? or maybe a driver I need to install? I can boot a live CD of ubuntu to have a look in there if you think it would help?

Hmm... Wasn't concerned about this until I saw someone else's laptop. Mine also only shows the percentage? (Optimus II 17.3")

Yes like I said its only a small problem, the battery still so far seems to hold a good charge and work well, and after some research it seems some laptops batterys simply dont have this feature. I was just interested in if this was normal or not

I'll confirm this occurs on my 2 day old Optimus II

On my work laptop with Windows 7 64-bit - I get hrs + mins remaining charge in brackets

I've got a Genesis and it is the same, only shows the percentage, which is annoying because I would like to know exactly how long the battery will last. Is it down to something in Windows 7 64. Never had one do this before, although there is bound to be a cure somewhere on the net.

Well I was hoping some answer from PCS about this? but oh well the third party app does the job until I can get to the bottom of it/find a fix

Same issue with my brand new Optimus II after a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I really am not keen on using 3rd party tools to slove this, so hopfully there will be a fix for this. I was wondering if this is because I am using the 62.16Wh optional battery, and not the older one. Does anyone have this issue on the smaller battery?

My battery is the small one, i guess maybe PCS use cheaper battery's without the % reporting chips in to save money?

I'm still looking for a proper soloution too... Since I paid £40 extra to UPGRADE to an extended battery, i'd hope that this one especially would have the circuitry in it! :p

There's really no accurate way to tell how much time is left on your battery anyway,
it's only a guesstimate based on your previous usage.
