15,6" VORTEX IX 4K OLED Review

I was looking for a new laptop to replace my Optimus VII from 2017 which unfortunately received water damage. I purchased this machine in particular almost solely for the 4K OLED panel as I wanted the laptop primarily for watching movies and some light gaming (I have a gaming PC so I didn't think the mobile RTX cards were worth the extra cost) I had a budget of £1000 but I stretched it to accommodate the OLED panel and the total cost was £1241 for the configuration below.

The laptop is well built with a metal top and keyboard deck with a plastic bottom. The track pad is a nice smooth glass finish with a built in fingerprint reader which feels very nice although it is not quite as good as those found in a MacBook Pro for example. The trackpad is nevertheless decent with good tracking and windows precision drivers which support multi touch gestures.

The keyboard is nice and is backlit although it does not have per key RGB lighting like some models but I prefer a simple white backlight.

The speakers sound pretty good for a laptop and particularly a Clevo/Sagar model as my previous Optimus VIII was abysmal and they are both using 2W speakers.
The use Creative Sound Blaster Pro Gaming X although I have not used the software package and just use the standard audio driver.

The 4K OLED screen is fantastic and is decently bright at 400 nits and very vibrant. It is a Samsung panel so the colours are very saturated which I actually don't mind but it is not for everyone. Looks similar to a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in terms of colour saturation if you're looking for something similar.

Note: I used the OS, RAM and SSD from my previous laptop so it runs 16GB and 512GB SSD instead of the 4GB and 120GB I ordered below.

Nice write-up, thanks! I was wondering what the OLED experience might be like on this laptop. Am thinking of buying it to run Ubuntu though and I've heard controlling OLED brightness can be a faff, so might stick to the LED panel.

Would be very interested to hear about temps, undervolt/paste solutions etc

Thanks for the review!
Does the chassis/keyboard get hot under workload? And are the fans noisy when you are just using it normally (websurfing, watching movies, etc.)?
