15' optimus II ?

Hi all,

I read somewhere in the forum that there will be 15' Optimus II available from mid-June. Obviously that was an estimate, but is it possible to know if they are coming soon? Because I need to order a laptop soon and would prefer the 15' to the 17'.
Thank you in advance!

They are scheduled to land on the 7th July and will be available to order shortly afterwards. :)

Could someone from PCS please describe what the differences are. I was about to buy the Enigma 540 3 kitted out with everything but SS HD (I need a 1920 x 1080 screen ). Though its hard to see differences from the description

The only one I can find is about the graphic card optimser. Is there any performance differences with the same config ie same i7 and 8GB ram. Possible factors are battery life and noise

The 15.6" Optimus II will look very different to the 15.6" Enigma III. The main dirrerences will be the GPU (more powerful on the Optimus II). We have not had the opportunity to test the battery life and/or noise levels at present.

We don't conduct noise tests, sorry.

The battery test is still in progress.

I've had a look through the 15.6" and 17.3" pictures and there seems to be a notable difference in chassis material, which is also apparent to the Vortexes. Any light on this?

The 15.6" also seems to have a fingerprint scanner while the 17.3" does not - are there any other main differences between the two builds?

From first impressions, the 15.6" Optimus II looks mighty impressive and I hope to place an order for one soon.

There are minor differences in the materials on the chassis, but they still fit well under the Optimus and Vortex brands that we use.

I physically checked our warehouse stock and I can confirm that they do not have a fingerprint scanner. The images detailing otherwise have been updated immediately.

Other than this the specification is very similar and the only major difference is the GPU. :)

Thanks for the update.

It looks as though the 17" is metal and the 15" is clearly plastic though.

Edit: the images and description for the 15.6" Optimus II still show a fingerprint scanner

You will need to refresh the page to load the new images, as your browser has most likely cached these.

Both laptops are plastic, but the 17" Optimus II has a brushed aluminium effect on the top, whereas the 15.6" Optimus II has an ever slight grainy effect. It's difficult to explain but it looks nice. :)

Thanks. Update on Battery life test would be great.

Apologies if Im hijacking, I ordered the optimius 15.6 II last week but just wanted to confirm it uses the NVidia Optimus technology (as the Enigma doesnt). Is this where it gets its name from? Have I just asked a moronic question?
As soon as I get it maybe hopefully this week or early next, I'll post battery life playing a dvd. I will post with and without using the GPU as should be able to switch off (with optimus technology) which should make a difference as according to the review http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-555M.41933.0.html GPU is very good quite hungry. I'll check both run. Didnt buy blu ray so cant check the Bitstream HD Audio (Blu-Ray) output via HDMI which sounds pretty cool

No problem :)

I can confirm that the Optimus II does use Nvidia Optimus technology.
