Hi all

Want to buy a laptop for gaming mainly simulators like Farming Simulator, also for some video editing and graphic design.

Obviously a 15inch is cheaper, so feel I can get more bang for my buck, but has anyone experienced both and can offer advice on which they preffered and should I go for 17?

TIA!

Late to the party but it looks like no one else is here yet. As far I know, the larger laptops sport bigger heat-sinks which would in theory provide better cooling which is a pretty big determining factor for getting the best out of what you pay for. My wife has a 15" slim gaming laptop and it regularly overheats and requires a cooling pad to game reliably at all despite it only being a 1060.

I've had 17, 15 and a 13" and to be honest the 17 is probably your best option if you don't want it to be portable. Having said that, I used to lug mine around in a backpack when I used to go Uni. I still have my 17" laptop.. it's a beast.. it's 11 years old.

I just returned a 15.6" laptop and now looking at the 17" sizes. I do like the 15.6" size but sometimes I felt the screen was maybe a little too small.

17" laptops generally have better cooling and wont tend to run as hot under heavy loads compared to 15"

The downside is weight and sheer size. If you're travelling a lot with one I'd really not consider a 17" on the whole. Plus the power adaptors also tend to be that much bigger and heavier.

Of course you get a physically larger screen as well which may be a deal breaker for some.

Really, it's down to personal preference on the whole.
