I am looking at replacing my current laptop, a five year old Acer 7720g (Intel Core Duo @ 2.00GHz, 4GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 2300 HD). I play a lot of World of Warcraft, and my current laptop is holding me back performance wise. I would ideally like a laptop that can run World of Warcraft on ultra settings, whilst also allowing me to record my gameplay using Fraps or Playclaw. I don't want to go too wild, but I need a machine that will stand the test of time and not depreciate too quickly.
I have been looking at the 17.3" Vortex III, but I'm by no means a computer expert, so would appreciate some advice on specs. I have my heart set on the AMD Radeon HD 7970M graphics card, but I'm not too sure which way I should go regarding the processor and hard drive(s). Basically, I want the best processor performance to price ratio (if that makes sense), and if an SSD would improve load times significantly, I would look at paying the extra bit of cash for one of those too.
Hopefully you can give me some advice, because I really am rather clueless when it comes to this sort of thing.
Thanks a lot,
Josh
