17.3" Vortex III - Upgradeable Graphics Card?

I am very close to ordering a 17.3" Vortex III, but I can't quite make my mind up on the spec. What I really need to know is whether the graphics card is upgradeable. I am looking at getting the Nvidia 670M instead of the AMD 7970M as it is £153 cheaper, but will provide me with the performance that I need at the moment. The thing is, I want this laptop to stand the test of time, so I need to know whether it is possible to upgrade from this card should I wish to in the future.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Josh

Welcome to our forums :)

I can guarantee that you can upgrade to the GTX 675M, 680M or HD 7970M. I cannot guarantee that you will be able to upgrade to any future release but it might be possible.

As an example, until now we could not offer any Vortex II customers the opportunity to upgrade, but now we are able to offer an upgrade to the HD 7970M but not a GTX 675M.

Excellent. I think I will place an order with the lesser graphics card and see how that holds up.

While we're on the subject, would the processor and CD drive be upgradeable, or is that too difficult?

Cheers,

Josh

Okay, thanks.

I'm just trying to decide how best to go about this. I basically need a laptop that can run World of Warcraft and Diablo 3 on maximum settings, and also record gameplay using Fraps or Playclaw without ruining my FPS. I'm not really very knowledgeable so can't decide what to go for. I am quite willing to fork out for upgrades further down the line if I decide I want to play more hardware intensive games, but as it stands it seems a bit pointless paying for gear that I won't use to its fullest potential. It would be brilliant if you could suggest a build for me, that I can tweak as I see fit. As I've said, I am rather clueless when it comes to this sort of thing.

Thanks very much for your help,

Josh

WoW does not require ultra powerful hardware to run so a GTX 670M will suffice. I'm less sure abour Diable 3, perhaps our other members will comment here.

The rule of thumb when buying a new computer is to get the best specification for your budget to increase the lengevity of the product as much as possible. If you are buying a laptop for gaming, consider a the best GPU that fits within your budget and worry less about RAM and CPU power, providing that you balance all three as much as possible. Create a spec and post it on there using this: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forum...-way-to-post-your-specification-to-our-forums! and we'll provide feedback for you. :)

Well Diablo runs at maximum settings at around 25 to 40 FPS on my 335m, and 1.6ghZ dual core. So I imagine a 670m would destroy Diablo.
