17.3" VORTEX VIII - Good for me?

Hi. I am upgrading from a 5 year old PCS laptop which has been brilliant. Mainly for 4k video editing in Premiere CC, after effects and all other Adobe CC programs. Will this do the trick and are there any issues - I've read that with only 1 PSU attached the graphics cards throttle to half speed / any thermal issues? Thanks in advance...

The speed of encoding video with Premiere Pro highly depends on whether you'll use any effects that are GPU-accelerated: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2122549# .

Video encoding otherwise does not benefit from being run on a GPU due to the way subsequent frames depend on the earlier frames (thereby making it impossible to parallelise which is what a GPU does best at), unless you're using an encoder that renders in tiles to exploit the GPU efficiently. I had a look at the performance of some GPU-based encoders though and they are still very much slower and give worse quality than a CPU.

If you intend to mainly edit your videos as opposed to heavy grading then I think the dual GPU won't be of much help.
