17" Optimus II - faulty key? or something stuck under it?

Got a problem with the I key on my new optimus II. It feels like there is something stuck under the top right corner of the I key, which makes it spongy and unresponsive.

I have no idea what it is, can't see anything and it's been like that since new.

Is it safe to pull the keys off on this model of laptop to have a look, or is it better to send it back?

I'd leave the key attached, don't wanna break it by accident.
