1st Desktop Gaming PC

Hi,

I'm looking at ordering my first gaming PC. I currently have a Predator Triton 500 (RTX GeForce 2080, 32GB Ram, i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz) and looking to upgrade to a more powerful desktop rig, laptop has serious cooling issues.

How's the below spec looking? Will be mainly used for gaming (Fortnite, COD, Cyberpunk, Cities Skylines etc in 4k), appreciate RTX3080 is overpriced and zero stock so any other viable options with a view to upgrade to a 3080 or a 6800 once they become readily available? Any areas to upgrade for little cost or save etc.

Budget £3k
4K Monitors to be purchased and peripheral's separately to £3k budget.

Welcome ;) Are you sure x570-F is needed for 5600X? I'd pair it with B550 or X570 if you want to spend more. Why not taking a 5800X having this budget? Then X570-F and H115i would make sense.

Just maybe PSU could be 850W or even 1000W having in mind of you hungry GPU and possible future upgrades for your 4K monitors.

I'd drop Bullguard, but take a silver warranty.

Hi mate, I've just optimised your build you can get sooo much more for your budget

I went with the 5800x which is THE gaming CPU for this generation and changed the Motherboard to match

Changed your storage setup to something much much faster and affective.

Bumped your PSU to 850W (1000W would be prime option) which the 3080 will get close to using and dropped to the Intel AX200 Wifi card, it's just as good as the ASUS one for most peoples uses

Hi, cheers for the reply. Went with 5600x as pretty much gaming only and the £130 for 5800x probably not the best value. PSU I thought i put 850W ha. Didn't notice the Bullguard too. With regards to the motherboard I'm not that clued up, what's the difference or the thinking from your suggestions?

Yeah for gaming only the 5600x has 6 cores and the 5800x has 8 cores. Why this is important?

The new consoles both have 8 cores and as much as we might dislike it games are made for consoles first in most cases so 8 core count is going to be really important. That's why the 5800x is THE gaming CPU, this generation is going to see the adoption finally of proper multicore gaming. We can see the start of it in Warzone which uses as many cores as there are available

Hi cheers for the reply. Is it worth waiting on the 3080 given the stock issues or is there value in the 3070TI or something else?

It depends on what monitor you are planning to use really, if you want to go 4K and using something like the Samsung G9 monitor then I would say 3080 is the way to go

If you're looking a 1440 144Hz Ultrawide then the 3070 and 3070Ti would suit that better

Like I said depends on the monitor mate

Cheers, thanks very much for this. Will look more in to the monitor situation.

Build looks excellent. If you want more RGB then the H115i Capellix is the way to go, otherwise it's spot on.

I think there's less of a delay with the 3080Ti by the way. Just in case the reduced wait time and increased performance offset the value enough for you (And depending where you are at with the budget).

Hi,

Yeah I looked at the Ti and really wanted it but I just couldn't justify the price increase. Footy season started as well and taking my lad as much as I can this year so had to draw a line somewhere haha.

Might change the cooler actually the H115i Capellix looks boss.

Also comes with the Corsair Commander which is a £50 piece of kit that controls all the fans and RGB in the build. It's an excellent tool and worth the cost of the upgrade
