2 laptop specs, need a little help

It'll mainly be used for games. Bear in mind I've been using a 7 year old desktop running xp so anything is going to be a massive improvement. Been out of the loop for ages regarding processors, gfx cards etc so not sure how everything fits together now. It'll mainly be used for games, not really current gen ones, so in not particularly after really massive power. As always any price reductions would be appreciated.

If it was me i'd get the i7 4710, and lose one of the ram sticks. 8 gig is fine and the i7 is definitely better value. I'd also consider getting a scorpio black 7200 rpm drive. Oh and get the killer card, by all accounts the Intel ones are all flaky to varying degrees. Also get the silver warranty (only £5 more). Sorry i haven't saved you any money at all but just my three pennorth. :)

Thanks! So the processor is more important than ram, could I add more later if necessary? And are the chassis much of a muchness, the second one only seems to support 2 drives.

Laptops are difficult to upgrade, and by the time you need more than 8gb ram, you will need new everything.

Adding more ram shouldn't be a problem, you wont be able to replace the gpu

I don't think he really needs the i7, the previous generation of the i5 is also pretty good while its much cheaper, if your care about the price.

i5 mobile is dual core, i7 is 4 cores. For gaming the i7 is a better choice
