Hi guys,
Over the past year of owning an RTX 2060 gaming laptop I've decided to take the plunge and get a full size gaming PC and sell the laptop.
Would REALLY appreciate some advice on this, its not the sort of money I spend everyday and I've saved a few months for this so want to make sure I don't have buyers remorse!
I have an LG OLED B9 which could do up to 4K 120hz with HDMI 2.1, so I've pretty much made up my mind on getting the 3080 as the graphics card and using the LG effectively as a monitor. I'm aware of burn in risk etc so have tried to mitigate that where I can. (ignore 2080TI in the spec sheet, its the only way I could proceed to post on forum). With it being a big screen, achieving 4k 60 is important to me in most AAA games. My max budget is £2.5k but ideally nearer 2k. Also want to stick with Ryzen and make the most of PCIE 4. I've broken down in a bit more detail about my selection:
Case:
I don't know where to start with this, picked one that was fairly pricey at random in the hope it would have decent cooling. Help needed.
CPU and Cooler:
I don't want to spend money when I don't have to. I've gone with the 3900X but any recommendations to pair with a 3080 would help. I'd probably play a few titles at high refresh 1440p so won't always be GPU bottlenecked. I've no plans to OC GPU or CPU, however it would be nice to have a nice cool system coming from my laptop which constantly thermal throttles. Cooler advice would be appreciated.
Motherboard:
Honestly just picked the cheapest PCIE 4.0 I could find, any help welcome.
RAM:
I know most recommend 16GB only but I'll be playing a lot of FS2020 which I believe is bottlenecked on 16GB? Which is why I have selected the 32GB option I'm also torn between 3200mhz and 3600mhz, as I know faster is better with Ryzen but am unsure whether they'll be a tangible difference.
1st Storage Drive:
Put this as a 2TB SATA, I'd like at least something with 2TB to store backup games on. Realistically I'd only use this to ferry my games to and from my SSD to save downloading them again.
M2 SSD Drive:
I've put a PCIE 4.0 SSD here which will also obviously be my boot drive
Power Supply:
I know the 3080 is power hungry but with power supplies being expensive at the moment I don't want to overspend on this, will 750W be enough?
Wireless Networking:
I need decent Wifi connection, help needed.
Warranty:
£69 didn't seem too bad for parts cover, presuming this extends all 12 month manufacturer warranties by another year, seemed worthwhile to me iven the value of the build.
