I just received my new PC and the graphic card already broke. I was playing Crysis 2 while my pc crashed and switched off. When I opened up computer case smoke was coming out of my graphic card. Now I cant even turn my computer on. Computer is 3 days old, please help?

Your best bet is to ring up PCS in the morning and get an RMA sorted out, I shouldn't try turning the PC on again.

You might even be able to request an RMA from your admin page on the main PCS admin site, but I'm not sure.

Edit: I'm surprised you got smoke!

also im not 100% sure but if you take it out, the PC should load from the integrated graphics if you have it

Quite probably, but if it was the PSU (which is possible given the smoke, not guaranteed, but possible) that blew up the card you don't really want to risk it getting anything else, and given it was smoking, I'd certainly not want to turn it on until some checking had been done first

I was playing only for like 1 hour. I was surprised how quick it went through testing. Meaby it didn't spend enough time in this stage? I'm very disappointed :(

Smoke was coming out of the graphic card. I would rather send the whole system tho, so they can test is a bit more.

To be honest as with anything electronic, it can last for years with no problems or bits can go 2 days after testing :(

i guess

id say send it back then, for repair, you must have something you can use for now? if not you can get this £70 tablet for internet browsing whilst you wait, its also a very good idea for holidays etc. if i had found this a while back, i would have it instead of my iPad

I was rather indecisive whether I should buy from PCSpecialist because of the more expensive laptop price. Everyone was trying to justify this price with the quality of components given...

Just 1hr of playing Crysis 2 and your PC's dead already? My old laptop didn't die out on me even when I played Dragon Age 2 on max graphics settings for 137hrs. I did take breaks but the game was running all the time.

As already stated as with anything electronic, it can last for years, but it can also break at any point, the most likely times being after the warranty runs out or within the first few weeks.

1 out of thousands? Yeh, shoddy.

It always sucks for the person affected, but you cannot judge any company on one example.

PC components are not 100% reliable. Fact of life. Someone, somewhere will suffer from a failure or the like.

Sorry for your situation, but for others reading these stories, find me a website/retail company that never had a failed PC and i'll buy one for you.

(Disclaimer, I won't, but you get the point :D )

@aquickquestion, are you on this site because you are interested in buying a pc/laptop, or are you just looking for negatives in everything as your posts seem to suggest?

This forum is used (by most people) to ask for advice prior to purchase and to discuss computer related matters, whether that is technical issues, gaming, or whatever. The majority of people who buy from PCS probably never even make a post on this forum. For every person that has a problem with their new PCS pc, there will be hundreds of people sat infront of their new pc enjoying their new purchase (myself included).

As Rakk and DeadEyeDuk mentioned, electronics are not 100% failproof and there is no guarantee that they "won't break down ever" (I heard that phrase somewhere once and it's kind of growing on me :)).

I used to work for a main Ford dealership garage, do you think I would have had a job if none of their cars ever had technical issues? Of course, if you were a 'fly-on-the-wall' you would think "wow, these cars are rubbish, they are always having problems!", but you never see the hundreds/thousands of cars that run for years without problems.

As was stated in another thread, all companies who sell products will have some customers who have a less than perfect experience, but that's life. It's how the company deals with the issues that arise that really matters.

I have requested a return (RMA) today and now all I can do is wait. This is so frustrating. I was so happy with my new system and now its dead… I hope the guys from PC Specialist, will replace my graphic card with some proper one. :(
