A couple of build questions?

Hi,

Will be buying an Optimus V very soon. I'll be using it to play games such as Civilization V and Skyrim aswell as watching HD movies and TV.

In regards to RAM, is it better to go for the Samsung 1333MHz 1x8GB or the Kingston 1600MHz 2x4GB configuration? Will there be any noticeable speed difference? In terms of future upgrading there are only 3 slots so the Samsung 1x8GB would be less fiddly.

Also is Windows 7 or Windows 8 better? I realise this is pretty subjective, but is there any performance difference when running games between the two? Will Windows 8 be dumped by Microsoft soon or will Windows 7 be no longer supported with updates?

My budget is pretty much maxed out, but are there any further improvements that can be made?

No significant difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz memory same as with windows 7 vs windows 8 in terms of gaming performance.

Hi Mitchm75.

I originally ordered my Optimus V with the Kingston 1600MHz 2x4GB configuration, but I was informed by PC S. that I had to change my order to the Samsung 1x8GB due to "compatibility issues".
On the plus side, 1x8 gives you a free slot for later expansion - the change considerably lengthened my build time though...

I'm on Windows 7 playing Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City - no problem. Hope this helps you.
