If I'm not at the house, the package gets delivered to the nearest DHL depot.
And I'm guessing we get given a card by DHL that tells us the post code of the nearest DHL depot, is that correct?
DHL will leave a card with details of the depot, this card will be needed if you want to collect from the depot along with ID, accepted forms of ID are listed on the card.
DHL will try and deliver a total of 3 times before returning the package to us.
