adding hdd

hello guys! i want to add a WD green for my media files, question is can i just pop it in and connect the necessary cables like psu and sata cables, then i can it on my computer when i turn on the pc. Or do i have to do some settings on it? Many thanks in advance

Install it & windows should detect it on startup.
start computer,look in"computer"to see if the drive appears,if not,(probably not unless its preformatted)
go to disk management
1.Click on "Start"
2. Right click on "Computer"
3. Click on "Manage"
4. Select Storage/Disc Management
5. Right click on the black bar of the disc and select New Simple volume (you may only need to give it a drive letter,if it has been preformatted)
6. Follow New Simple Volume Wizard
