I am getting a desktop with 4gb RAM, and I currently have a laptop with broken HDD & motherboard. The laptop's RAM is fine though. I would like to add the laptop RAM (4gb) to the desktop when it arrives, but as I understand it laptop RAM is different from desktop RAM, except in some chunky notebooks.
So, is the RAM in my laptop compatible with a desktop? This is as far as I can get through finding its specs on the internet.
Name: ACER 7535G
"System memory
• Dual-Channel SDRAM support
• Up to 2 GB of DDR2 667 MHz memory, upgradeable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules"
I've also found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ACER-Aspire-7535G-RAM-Memory/dp/B0047LUN0U but the picture doesn't look like the RAM inside my laptop from what I remember (the accessible part on the back of the laptop, where you open it up, has jammed so I cant see without breaking the laptop's back, which I don't want to do just yet.
DDR2 and 667 are certainly not what desktops usually run at this moment in time, but is that just 'cause the laptop is old?
