Additional HDD/SSD

Hey guys

Im looking to purchase an additional for my desktop.
Currently I have a 1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm) which is almost full up.
My question is should I go for an SSD or a HDD?
Obviously storage is the main concern so I was thinking of a 2TB as im not planning on changing desktop any time soon, only upgrading it, and the price difference makes more sense to go for the 2tb.
However the thought of getting an SSD and putting the OS and the usual programs on there popped into my head. Im not sure how much room this would free up from the HDD though?

What would people suggest? Im leaning towards the HDD just so I have a lot more storage, but an SSD would be nice for boot times etc.
Also can anyone recommend any good drives? Guess I would stick with WD black 2tb for HDD?

Thanks

Ps sorry if this is posted in the wrong location.

Whilst an SSD will make your system boot faster and will make your old HDD seem like it was so slow, it will not sort out your storage issue, SSD's tend to be smaller, so if its space you need then a normal hard drive will be what you need. Moving the OS to an SSD will free up a bit of space, but nothing that significant.

Thanks for the quick reply Rakk.

Yeah that's what I thought, I just liked the idea of an SSD.

So if I am going for the HDD, what would you suggest? Is a 2tb a bit overkill? Or is it worth it for future storage?
Also do I necessarily need a black WD as it will simply be for storage of music, films etc.

Thats cos it is a cool thing to be able to boot your machines very quickly, but doesn't really help with the storage issue :(

This really does depend how much you think you'll need, its different for everybody, go for how much you think you'll need, some people just have more stuff and gain more stuff at a faster rate than others - I realise this probably doesn't help mind.

To echo what Keynes and Rakk have already said, go for the Caviar Green. And for the price difference you may as well go for the 2TB over the 1TB.

Problem i have with my SSD is that it boots my pc so quickly, my network drivers don't boot quickly enough, so steam never logs in first time :p
