I've got a maximum of £800 to spend, although preferably less

the reason I want a new pc is to game, specifically WoW/CoD must be able to achieve 100FPS in all game situations

I don't have any knowledge of pc hardware please help with a suitable setup.

Just a tower, I'm not wireless! £850 would have to be a cut off point as £800 is stretch as it is, P.S in all gaming situations in 'WoW and CoD', is it not achievable with my funds?!

What resolution do you game at?Think the system below is pretty darn good for £823. You would probably get 100fps with the below specs if your gaming at 1280 x 1024, but if your gaming at 1680 x 1050 or 1900 x 1200 think you should still be good for above 60 fps.

If you reduced the HDD to the 640GB WD Caviar black, went with the standard cooler and the 450W power supply, that would take the price down to about 762 and shouldnt compromise too much on performance.

I believe it is 18 inches though I might invest in a few more inches in the future

Check what the resolution is on your desktop, or what the monitor supports. Is it a widescreen monitor? I would estimate if its an 18 inch, if the monitors on PC specialist are anything to go by, then your looking at a resolution of 1440 x 900, in which case with the spec I recommended you may not be a million miles away from 100fps.

However, if your looking at a 20-24 inch monitor, then the optimal gaming resolutions will probably be 1920 x 1080, in which case your probably looking at nearer 60 fps if your playing the game on high settings.

If you google 'AMD 6870 call of duty benchmarks', have a look at the test systems and the benchmarks their getting, it may give you a rough idea of what to expect.

Okay but more importantly what about for WoW, my resolution for this monitor at its highest is 1280/1024 though id like to buy a new one in the future - Maybe we could scrap the blu-ray player and add more power with the money saved, I've got one to play my DVD's already if thats what it does on pc's which id of thought it does

Well the spec I posted didn't have a blu ray, but if you added another 4gb of ram that would take it up to 834.

If your gaming at 1280 x 1024 on high settings then I think the above spec ought to come quite close to 100fps.

Have a look at these benchmarks of the AMD 6870, which I selected in the system above.

The test system was on 6GB 1866mhz RAM, and an Intel core i7 970, a top of the line 6 core CPU which you will not find in an £800 system, but they got 103 fps on high settings when gaming at 1280 x 1024. Would imagine for World at War it would be higher still as its an older game.

couldnt find any specifically for world at war, but would expect similar results across the COD games, if anything a little bit better the older they get.

That system I posted ought to be able to run it with considerable ease, but whether it will hit 100fps is another thing.

many thanks, I'll wait for some more feedback see what others think before I empty my pockets.

No probs, and I know what you mean. Took me ages to decide the components of the system I ordered.

Your current monitor can't show more than 60 frames per second, neither can 95% of the monitors available in the market so I wouldn't worry so much about 100 frames per second (25 frames per second is seen as the minimum amount to play a game properly and 30 frames per second is what's considered to be smooth gameplay).

A fast dual core processor with a GTX460 can max out world of warcraft so anything more than that (like what cjc posted) will easily max it out.

Nah, extra frames are churned out by the gpu but never get displayed by the monitor. As Phoenix said, the limitation is at the monitor

Thank you CJ for your help I've tried too pick at my brain and come up with the above it's a little over my budget but im going to try a finance route if not order it a week later on :D, few questions:

what is crossfire and why can't I choose to double my graphic cards?
what is eyefinity?
what is INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT?
whats the difference between a standard PSU and a CORSAIR one

and there was no option to get someone else to overclock my machine assuming it's not done when building

also for a bit of reassurance is it capable to build a better tower with the same amount of money, also sorry for double posting and dumb questions

right but some where down the line doesn't frame rate also contribute to latency also any improvements/cost effective improvements on the spec recommended?

Phoenix it looks like it takes alot to max out WoW from this discussion: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/268680-15-graphics-card-world-warcraft

I didn't read all of the thread but Custom PC made a gaming PC a few issues ago with an overclocked G6950 and a GTX460(1GB) and managed to get 60FPS with max settings in world of warcraft, it's really not a demanding game. Latency is determined by your internet connection, having a better CPU or GPU isn't going to make any difference if you've got a dial up connection. You could upgrade to a HD5870 if you want to.

With the updated build you've posted the 1600mhz RAM isn't worth getting if you're not overclocking, stick with the 1333mhz RAM. Crossfire is when you use 2 AMD graphics cards together, not all motherboards support it. Eyefinity is a multi-monitor setup using a single graphics card.

The internal card reader is pretty much what it says it is, you can put SD and other cards in there from a camera or whatever and save the files onto your computer. The corsair power supplies have a higher efficiency rating, you can build an overclocked PC from here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/amd-extreme-overclocked/

You can use the Maelstrom T900 case if you don't want to spend so much money on a case.
