Advice on a 1440p build

Hi,

Its been a few years since my last PC so I wanted some advice on upgrading to 1440p @ 144hz. I will mostly be playing Destiny 2 and WHTW 2 at best settings. Ideally i'd like to keep this below £2000 (with monitor). Will the 1080 be over the top or maybe even the monitor I have selected is too good and there is a cheaper alternative.

Looks good, only adjustments I'd make would be to drop the HDD from the SSHD as you wouldn't get the benefits of the solid state portion of the drive as you have an m2 as the primary drive (they're designed if you don't have an ssd in the system), that will save you some money, then I'd up the PSU to the 650 tXM series which is of much higher quality and modular which improves airflow.

The other consideration would be the monitor... personally I'd plump a tiny bit extra cash and go for something like a Dell S2716DG 27" Nvidia G Sync 144Hz, which has the added benefit of Gsync for around the same money. GSync is invaluable these days and drastically reduces screen tearing. Even at low FPS, the visual fidelity increase is phenominal.

Fully agreed with all the above.

The Barracuda Pro isn't an SSHD afaik, it's Seagate's answer to the WD Blacks.

But either way, it's £58 more expensive than a 2TB HDD. A 2TB HDD on its own only costs £53. So it's over 100% more expensive. :/

You could go for the CM212x cooler, which might help keep temps that bit lower.

Thank you for the quick replies and advice.

I have made the component changes which brings it too around £1600. I have seen on amazon Acer Predator XB271 only 1080 @ 144hz with g-sync for £420. Are these ok or would I be better just screwing the budget and saving that extra £200 for the Dell like you suggested?

I wouldn't pay £420 for a 1080p monitor when you can spend ~£500 and get a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

Looks good, balanced. Should provide a great gaming experience.

Dell S2417DG - some people might find 24" to be a touch small to really show off 1440p. But at £400 it's still a good deal better value imo than what you had previously (1080p 144hz for £420)
