Advice on a GTX 780 Ti build

Hi all,

I'm back again after two years with my (still) awesome Vortex II - today I'm looking for some advice on a desktop rig.

My main use will be gaming and some CAD / Rendering. My budget is up to 3k, but I've deliberately not put in a second GTX 780 Ti as I don't think I'll need it. Planning on playing on an Asus 144hz monitor at 1080p, occasionally playing it through a Sony W905A (which is meant to be good for pc gaming... As far as tv's go anyway). Sound card is in there as I have a separate amp for audio and would like a method of splitting the streams.

As always, any input would be gratefully received.

Hi Keynes,

Thanks for the input. The wifi is actually there as a back-up more than anything else; the computer will be hardwired to the network regardless.

I'm not too sure on the O/C, I like the idea - hence the K series CPU, but I think I'd prefer stability until I feel the system isn't keeping up with the latest games and software.

I've actually given into the temptation and gone with SLI GTX 780Ti's; here's the revised spec:

What monitor are you going to be gaming on? A 780Ti on it's own is best for very high fps on 120+Hz screens and/or those with greater than 1080p resolution. So to go for two of them in SLI you should be looking at 1-3 1600p or 120-144Hz screens! Or even a 4K monitor... ;)

I'm planning on starting with one 144hz Asus VG248QE, and adding two more next year. To start with, I'll be running it through the Asus and the Sony; but wont be gaming across both screens simultaneously.

I had thought about going 1440p, but I don't like the way certain applications are displayed - maybe I'm being naive.

Do you think it is overkill... or is overkill not a word to be used in the PC gaming domain :stuart:

I've never had a PC that powerful so I can't comment on it from experience really. Let's face it, who wouldn't want to own a PC with two 780ti's in ;)
