Advice on resisting temptation?

Now there's a PC-sized gap on my desk - hopefully not for too long depending on my RMA (3 weeks looks likely going by the RMA lead times) - I'm going to have to resist the urge to hunt down a PS5 to fill the gap.

Any advice on how to resist that urge?!

Hunt down a PS5? Really? It'll take longer to find one of those than it will for your RMA to be returned. These days it seems a PS5 or Xbox Series X is rarer than Willy Wonka's Golden Tickets
The scalper's prices have dropped to around £600 in terms of the ones actually being sold, so the profit margins are getting slimmer. I'm optimistic that the consoles will actually be available to non-bot users soon. But you're right that I should have my RMA back before we get to that point with the consoles.

Yeah, i noticed that the other day...was quite surprised how low they were going for. Most of it is probably COVID and so many people unwilling/unableto fork out the £1k+ they were asking for so they've had to drop their prices
The huge demand for the consoles was almost certainly spiked by Christmas, especially with parents with more money than sense wanting to get the console no matter the cost. With Christmas having passed, the prices people are willing to pay has decreased and I guess console batches are probably a little bigger when deliveries arrive. It's all leading to marginally higher supply and lessening demand - if you've watited this long for a console, another couple of months should be fine.

I'd recommend a PS5 for sure. Fantastic console, however mine doesn't see much use at the moment as we're entering the Post-launch games drought. Between and PC and PS5 you'll be covered for every big game this gen :)

That's what I'm thinking.

Microsoft have said that all Xbox exclusives will be on PC, all PC-exclusive games will obviously be on PC (big fan of Civilization and Total War-type strategy games which don't translate properly onto consoles!), and so getting a PS5 to round out the collection makes sense. I'm tempted to get a digital-only PS5 as it'd literally only be the exclusives that I'd want to get, as the PC versions of the games will almost certainly be cheaper!

The reason i've got back into PC gaming after over a decade was MS saying all xbox exclusives will be on PC making the Xbox Series pretty meaningless in my eyes.

All My PS5 games are digital but went with the disc PS5 at launch as there were a fair few PS4 games i wanted to play. (Had a Xbox most of last gen)

I admit i'm not helping you resist temptation here :ROFLMAO:

My youngest lad likes consoles... personally I'm not taken by them. They were great back in the day (that's the 90's btw), but I'd prefer to put the money towards a better upgrade for my PC.

Wife has an XBOX One and I'll be honest it doesn't do much for me.

The biggest point for them now is the exclusives. Sony's studios pump out so many great games and Nintendo are still Nintendo.

The xbox in my eyes is redundant now tho

£500 for exclusives? I'm coming to work with you lot...! But really, I love PC keys... always cheap deals with loads of seasonal sales to boot.

Consoles are cheaper to buy, but the games cost far too much. So again, you are looking at £500+ to play a couple of games at most.

Over the 7/8 years of the consoles life there's always 15-20 games at least which I'll purchase. Series such as God of War, Gran Turismo, Spiderman, anything Naughty Dog/Insomniac make justify the cost to me :) I very rarely buy games at launch.

PC games are much better value but the PC itself costs far more.

I'd imagine over the Consoles life i spend about the same as the PC so its swings and roundabouts. All depends on what games you want to play :)

LOL Resistance100 - all those games you mentioned I wouldn't play :D - but I do get your point. Though I won't be sharing your points with my son if I can help it ;)
