AHCI - Optimus III laptop

I have on order an Optimus III 15.6" laptop, and plan to use an SSD in it... Can i set the bios to be AHCI?? I'm not entirely sure what it does, or what it means, but I've been told for SSD - it needs it. Also, do i have to set it for both drives? or can i just specify one drive AHCI and the other what ever else it needs to be (just a standard 750gb, 5400rpm HDD...

An SSD should be set to AHCI in bios before installing the OS.I think I seen on the forums somewhere that the drives are set to AHCI,but best check anyway,for other drives it may not make much difference.

I've just checked on my Optimus III, in the bios ACHI was I think enabled before I installed my ssd. But its an easy thing to check press f2 at startup, then press right on the arrow pad thingy, and look at "sata mode"

Are you installing your own? Or having pcs install it?

Yeah, installing my own Win 7 x64 Ultimate. I shall make sure i check it first.
