All is not as good as it first seemed. G Sync not recognised.

So now I've finished reinstalling all my games after receiving my laptop back from its latest RMA i tried to enable GSync. I have ensured that the GPU mode is set to discrete but when i go into the nvidia control panel i am not given the option to enable G Sync. I have removed the drivers using DDU and reinstalled them and G Sync is still not recognised. I am now in the process of doing a fresh install of Windows but the fact the screen has been changed and it is not being recognised as G Sync has got me rather concerned.

After a clean install of Windows and installing all Windows Upates and drivers provided by PCSpecialist and ensuring the laptop is in Discrete mode G Sync is still not available in nvidia control panel. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I hate to say, but I would contact PCS, I have a feeling they've replaced the screen with a non gSync panel?

So when i check the components that were changed in my RMA section it states a 144Hz G Sync panel was put in.
If i check the Panel specs under advanced settings in Windows the display is reading as 144Hz. Do you know if there is a non G Sync 144hz variant for the Vortext?

I feel like i am grasping at straws here because my gut instinct is also that they have put the wrong screen in the laptop. This will be the 4th RMA on this laptop alone i'll be tearing my hair out if i have to send it back again.

Does it give the exact panel model number in the RMA details? If so we can look it up. If not, I'd contact them to confirm and get advice how to enable gsync.

But AFAIK, the steps you've taken are correct for enabling GSync.

The model quoted is : 15.6" AUO B156HAN08.0 Matte FHD IPS EDP 144hz (1920 x 1080) G-Sync

After a quick google i can find plenty of sites with details of this screen but none I've read so far explicitly mention G-Sync.

I've done a decent hunt and can't find any mention of gsync also.... I'm not 100% sure how they label it on laptop screens though so not sure of giving a definitive answer weather it is or not.

I'd contact PCS.

I also had a look around (you know me for finding obscure information :ROFLMAO:)

I have found one website that covers the previous version of that screen (the 7.0 rather than the 8.0) on a Gigabyte Aurous laptop and the specs specifically mention G-Sync...it's possible they made the 8.0 non G-Sync. Anyway, here's the link if interested:

?G-Sync
Yes, I did notice that about the previous model. Does lead me to believe that it should specify GSync if it is GSync enabled.

Cheers for the investigative work. When i google that panel i found a few reseller websites specifically mentioning it as being G-Sync. The more i look at the the more i get the sinking feeling PCS have put the wrong screen in my laptop again.

I would suggest using Live Chat rather than email as email can take a while to get answered

I have tried live chat before but they never seem able to give any sort of technical support.
I get the impression they are just there for order support.

Not sure if this is the route you have gone down but I would specifically ask them to call you in the tech support email.

Not sure if they will or not, but that's what I would request as waiting days between the replies would frustrate me. Fair enough for the first response, but after that it would feel like pulling teeth.

I will do that Scott good shout. The last RMA i was sending one email a day for 4 days until they told me to RMA it.

I have just received the following response from PCS technical support.

"I am just checking with our RMA team whether it is possible we installed a non G-Sync screen.

These aren't labelled any differently from the supplier, so we would have had to manually test the screen to check this."

This does not bode well haha.

The technician has gone radio silent even though he would get back to me ASAP.

I have just messaged the live chat asking for them to organise an RMA for me and they say they are only for pre sale advice so cannot.

I am now going to call.

Unfortunately it gets worse my laptop screen just did this

This is exactly the same fault which they have replaced the motherboard for twice. At this point i really have had it with this laptop and PCS. I really don't know what else to do. The thought of sending it away for another 3 week RMA to probably receive a faulty laptop back again makes me feel sick.

Given the history of problems you've faces, I would be looking for some kind of refund personally.
