AMD or Intel/Nvidia for a sub £1000 gaming pc.

Im looking to build a system for gaming for sub £1000 can anyone suggest a balanced spec (with no bottlenecks).
I was thinking AMD might be better value for money at this level of computer but have very little experience with them so need advice.

I am no expert either but I have always been told AMD/ATI is better value for money. However I think Intel/Nvidia run cooler and use less energy I'm not sure how true that is though.

Here are links to the pre-built gaming computers from PCS:

AMD

Intel

There are three options for each brand that are under £1000, perhaps you can use one as a template.

Very similar to vanthus' (just seen it mate dont mean to step on your toes), but with a mobo and PSU that will allow you to SLI in the future....also i suppose not technically sub 1k either :)

Thanks for the ideas guys, i take it you would recommend Nvidia graphics cards over AMD then?
I tend to play games such as ARMA which im told are quite CPU intensive so i was thinking of bumping up the CPU power a bit maybe to a AMD FX8150 if i go amd?

nothing wrong with AMD graphics cards,I have one myself.
The 7870 would be a good choice.
I'm not sure what CPU to recommend,I doubt the game would utelise more than 4 cores so any more probably wouldn't help, and as I don't think the game will utelise hyper-threading an i7 might not improve any over an i5.
Hopefully someone can give you better advice on what CPU to get.
