AMD vs NVIDIA

hey guys,

I don't want to get into a massive debate here, i was just wondering if some of you could post me some feedback. I've researched graphics cards a hell of alot and the choice boils down to this.... AMD 3gb 7970 or 4gb GTX 680...

Just a little feedback if you've got either card or both on what your preferences are. I've read all the benchmarks and statistics, I just want someone to shed a little light on what each is like to live with.

Thanks.

Gtx 670, cheaper and close performance. The additional vram from the GTX 680 4gb will be beneficial if you are planning to run more than 1 screen.

feedback please, i don't want people just picking one

From experience, I have 2 x GTX 680 and I have not experienced any issues with surround. Nvidia control panel is pretty easy to use for setting up a surround set up and constant driver updates with nvidia. I think the GTX 680 4gb should also perform slightly better than the HD 7970 reference card at high resolutions.

thanks for the quick reply, i quite like the look of the jetstream, i just don't want to order and get a reference 680, wish they'd be a little more transparent about exactly what you are getting

I don't think it is a matter of transparency but what GPUs they can get hold of, you can always contact them to verify this.

well i do like this website, but you have to admit, unless you go and make enquirys you won't be sure of what card you're getting exactly until it arrives.

No that is true, but you can always purchase the cards yourself if PCS are not stocking the particular card you were wanting :)

Well unless I'm incredibly blind, i haven't seen it on the configuration page, all it says is the NVIDIA and model type, not who makes it etc etc, and all the different makes are slightly different.

I think Steaky is agreeing with you, if you wish to have a particular brand/model you could buy it from a third party retailer and have it delivered to PCS.

I think PCS keep the configuratron simple, because many users would find choosing between brands of GPU's confusing. In reality, all the cards offer pretty much the same level of performance. Nothing really differs apart from the design of the heatsink, or a slightly higher clockspeed
