I recently bought the ultranote laptop (specs below) mainly for my work as a quantitative data analyst. The ordering process was flawless and even under the lockdown conditions, I received the laptop quickly; order updates are sent via email each step of the way.
I ordered the laptop with no OS with a view to installing Linux mint. As others have found, you need to turn the machine on & off a few times before you can access the boot screen, but the rest was pretty smooth. I had Mint on a USB drive and the installation went well. Only hiccup was that the WiFi driver wasn’t recognised to begin with. I had to Ethernet the laptop to the router and update kernels to get it working. That was pretty easy and google sorted it.
I haven’t figured out how to change the backlit keyboard on Linux yet, but I’m not too bothered about that for now. Everything else works like a dream with great speed etc., so worth it for the price.
