Another Help with Gaming Desktop post *Sorry

Hey everyone. My last desktop purchase with PC Specialist was 2015 and I’m in dire need of a full restoration/top to bottom gaming desktop.

I am so out of touch compared to what my knowledge was like back in 2015 with regards to building a decent rig. I even bought a console 😮.

Anyways I need some help with creating a gaming desktop with a budget no more then £2500 ( could this also include suggestions for new mouse/keyboard ).

I’ll be hooking it up to my current Oled TV. In the past I’ve always gone for an Intel/Nvidia set up. I believe my last console had the 980Ti. I know it’s OLD like me.

So any help with be great. I appreciate it! Praise be to the Omnissiah!

Anyone able to help me out. Do you need more info before you can reply? If so let me know and I’ll do my best.

Yeah I understand that. It’s just 9 years ago I pretty much made a similar post and managed to get some help.
Apologies we missed this.

What make and model is your tv?
if it helps then this is what I put together on the site. I would like someone that is easily upgradable in the future but also that will last me a good while as well as it’s not cheap. Well not cheap for me at least.

We love you Ukraine
It’s an Oled LG C2.
So that's 4k 120Hz

This has a placeholder GPU which you'd swap out for the 4080 Super when it's released in a couple of weeks, it's cheaper and more powerful than the 4080 which it replaces

And you can transfer your current license over, no need for an additional one.

I sold my last PC so I’ll probably need an OS.

Plus it’s already over my ideal budget 🤣.

Also you mention the 4080 super. Even though it releases at the end of Jan that won’t mean PCS has stock right away though.

Appreciate the reply.

It’s not, you’ve missed what’s been said about the gpu.

PCS are an NVIDIA partner, they get stocks on release day like any other partner
So I’m better off being a little patient then and waiting to early February when the 4080 super is released.

Can I ask what your thoughts on this build you’ve created are? I’m just curious as I’m soooo out of touch nowadays I’m interested in understanding the thoughts behind it are.

Again I appreciate the time and answers. I’m sure you have better things to do then answer my annoying questions.

Cheers.

The 4080 Super should be cheaper than the 4080, so basically the build will be cheaper than it looks above.

Build above is spot on....

Good level case to support high level hardware
Best Gaming GPU
Good motherboard with strong VRM & support
RAM on the button, you could spend a little extra for the 6400 but I don't think it's worth it. May want to consider RGB though, if you want some shiny.
4080 Super once it's released is good bang for buck. I have the 4080 and it's a strong GPU
High end Storage support, if you want to save a bit the 500GB drive would do nicely for the primary. Keeps you in check with storage habits.
1200w PSU is overkill power wise but it's ATX3.0 which has a ton of plus points .No lesser offerings available from PCS as yet.
I would probably bump up the cooler to either the H115i or H150i (H115i for more quiet, H150i for more aesthetic in the case.
OS will be a bit over budget, but hopefully the PC sale makes that hurt less.
Peripherals are quite expensive, but you tend to get what you pay for. Swap them out as you choose :)

Will anyone be able to tell me why the price of a build is £2592 with a 4080 and £2552 with a 4080 super. I thought they were supposed to be cheaper than the 4080 by £200. Has the 4080 come down because of the super?

The 4080 non-Super is currently out of stock. The price may therefore be out of date: it will be updated when it's next in stock. That's not ideal, I suppose, but it is how PCS pricing always seems to work! (Honestly, I know it's scheduled to come back into stock, but (a) it's scheduled for the 31st of February, a date that's a little hard to believe, and (b) it's no longer going to be produced, so I'd not be entirely surprised if it now disappears altogether.)

Yes, the standard 4080 has come down to c.£900 (but out of stock), and the Super is c.£935.

So about the same price for the Nvidia RTX4080 Super as the AMD 7900XTX - for worse raster performance, but much better VR/RT performance.

Nobody was saying to buy the Super for the extra performance over the 4080, but purely for the £200-£250 saving. It's only 2-3% faster than the 4080.

To be honest that’s the reason why I waited. It wasn’t for any improvement on performance. It was purely for the £££ saving. Though I’m not really saving that much am I 🤣. Oh well I suppose saving £50 ish is better than nothing.

Well, the 4080 Super is still £250 less than the 4080 non-Super was a couple of days ago!

Companies do like to play silly buggers with pricing. It's the same across most things. A saving is a saving though!

You've waited and saved £250? Do you not think? If you had purchased a month ago you would have purchased a full price 4080 rather than a discounted one.
