This one is for my dad. He is finally convinced it is time to get rid of his old pentium 4 build! Will be used for word, excel and internet mainly with all these running at once. Shouldn't need too much but he does want something quite powerful and quiet. This is what I was thinking:

My main concern is the heat in this case because the computer is in a loft conversion and it gets pretty hot up there in the summer. I'm also not sure about the PSU. I'd normally go for one of the branded ones but this build just doesn't need 650w, are these ones reliable enough? Also, are these cheaper screens OK? It isn't for games or anything but it needs to look nice enough and not be super reflective or anything.

Lastly, I presume this Graphics Card will be OK as he isn't playing games so I can't see a point in getting a better one but perhaps there is a reason to? I have the same case and am running a HD6870 and the fan on this blows the heat straight out the exhaust fan which seems to be a good setup. Does this have a similar fan position or does a different cheap card?

Cheers.

The temperature will be fine, the generic PSU's are made by a company called FSP and they're pretty reliable so you don't need to worry about that. The cheaper monitors are perfectly fine, they're just not as flashy as the Iiyama ones. In terms of a graphics card I recommend dropping one altogether and getting the i5-2500K CPU instead, it uses intel HD3000 graphics which will be fine for the things you're wanting it to do.
