Any improvements on this?

I'm looking to spend £2000 to £2500 on a gaming pc. I'll initially be using a 4k JVC TV for a monitor and would like to use it for VR when funds allow.

Is this a suitable spec, or over or under?
Is the graphics card the best for the job and do I actually need as much cooling?
I'd like it to be upgradable in the future so will the case fit any future improvements?

I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks for looking.

Agree with Martin on this one, you've got it pretty much bang on. The 5800X is a fantastic gaming CPU and would be ample for your needs. If you we're to wind up video editing or streaming the extra cores would be useful on the R9, although for hobbyist levels, I'm sure the 5800X would be perfectly comfortable with it too. If you were to stick with the 5900X, I'd suggest upping to the STRIX X570 motherboard. You could also upgrade to the newer Capellix H150i, it's got a more powerful pump than the PRO XT and will give that extra improvment on CPU temps for only about £20 more.

Many thanks for your suggestions. As it's likely we'll venture into streaming and video editing at some point it's probably worth the extra £78.
One other question though - is the Asus STRIX 3070 worth an extra £67 or is it essentially the same as the Nvidia 3070?

Performance wise it’ll be basically identical as it’s still a 3070. The temps might be slightly different depending on the cooling solution each brand uses but the main difference is looks. It’s just the STRIX is considered a ‘premium’ brand so there’s a higher cost. If you were to go with the standard you’d likely get a Palit, Zotac or Gigabyte card which are all perfectly good options. As for the strix option you have to get a specific card, the wait may will be longer compared to the standard option where they can put in any card they ‘get their hands on’. It’s up to you, but unless you’re 100% sold on the looks, I would personally go with the standard option, save the cash and the wait.
