hey!

The title is pretty much self explains it. Are there any plans to sell the Vortex 2 17" laptop model with the AMD Radeon HD 6970m graphics card? Are there any plans to incorporate these into the current models in the near future and if so... when would they be available? :)

I would appreciate it very much if someone could point some things out for me.
Thanks! :D

I don't believe that would be anytime soon since its like saying incorperating the gtx580 into the laptop but it possibly could but not sure myself.

Only a PCS staff member will be able to answer this for you.

If you don't get a response via the forums then contact them through the official channels.

It would probably be easiest to send an E-Mail to: [email protected]

Unfortunately, they told me that they do not have plans to incorporate the 6970m's for the time being. Oh well... if you can get the gtx 485m for a decent 1500 queen head config...

But anyway... I was just curious for a final price on the 6970m config considering the fact that the card should be significantly cheaper.

On the Passmark graphs at blah it says the 6970m gets a 33% higher score than 485m. But on the gaming performance charts at blah it says they are very similar, with the 485 winning on most of the games.

Is it available at any other Clevo retailer? The answer is yes, at Eurocom. Also Alienware.

Personally, don't think that PassMark is something to take that serious. The gtx 485m IS better in terms of performance, but not by much. Vantage and 06 do not show a significant difference, but when it comes to Heaven and other tesselation heavy benchies, the 485m clearly outperforms the 6970m. I probably should not even mention physX. The price difference, however does not justify anything really, maybe the extra goodies that the AMD cards lack... but I really don't see those worth it.

Eurocom is not a european retailer and Alienware seems to put many people off when it comes to money. I am one of those people.

The 6970m is available at Kobalt also, but the funny thing is that I get the same price for the same config except the 6970m swap (for the gfx).

What would you choose?
