I wasn't wanting to spend quite so much, but when I realised I could get an SSD/HDD combination in a laptop, I kinda went overboard. Anyone have any suggestions for extras or things worth dropping to save money?

Add the silver warranty mate only a fiver but gives you more cover. Also what you gonna be using it for?

There doesn't seem to be any difference between standard and silver warranties :S

I'm planning on quite a number of uses. I want to use it for fairly heavy multitasking - lots of flash-heavy web, looking through large pdf images, music transcoding, large excel files with lots of macros, Skype video calls, and some occasional programming with visual studio 2010. I thought the 1080p screen would be awesome for most of these things and the hardware spec is hopefully good enough that it'll still be great in three-four years. I went with the first wifi upgrade because I want to be able to get files back and forth quickly from a server on the LAN.

I do have a PC that can handle most of these tasks with competency but not so much speed (it's about 3.5 years old). It takes forever to start up and sometimes you don't really want to be sat at the desk - I'd like to be able to sit on the sofa or go round friends houses. The desktop will still be more powerful with games (5770 beats 555M right?), but I'm willing to give them a try on the laptop from time to time if I'm on the move.

I'll occasionally want to take it on a long journey, but I tend to be able to get a power socket on trains so battery life isn't such a concern (and when it is, I'll take my netbook).

On a final note, I'd also like to upgrade parts in the future - memory if 8GB gets really cheap; hard disk if I run out of space. Would that void the warranty?

3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)

3 Year Silver Warranty (1 Year Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)

For £5, its a no-brainer to choose the Silver Warranty
