I remember they got done for lying about emissions in their cars and had to payout a small fortune because of it.

yeah i remember something similar didn't realise it was still going on !

A couple years back (before call guardian) I received a call from one of these mis sold insurance protection things.

well, I answered the phone guessing what it was likely to be.

Usual spiel about miss selling and how I could claim.

well I said ‘Sorry I am only 16 and not bought anything”

the bloke then asked to speak to my parent.

I replied ‘ Sorry but they were both killed in a traffic accident’

Silence for 30 seconds....

Then ‘Did you know you could make a claim’....

the level that some people stoop is unreal.

When the ambulance chasers phone me the first question i ask is:

"How much can i claim for amnesia?"

Needless to say the line normally goes dead very quickly.......

yeah i remember something similar didn't realise it was still going on !

I do think the courts rules in favour of owners being compensated as they had been miss old but like PPI it’s just as easy to claim back yourself rather then letting some companies take a slice of it.
